Our first phase, launched in April 2022, centres around a process of co-design with an initial core focus group of 11 care experienced individuals to inform the necessities of our pastoral care offer and our future programming. As part of this process, participants are offered opportunities to hear from experts in areas ranging from financial literacy to film techniques; mental health; to law.
Launching in March 2023, this next phase will see the expansion of our consultation processes whilst also starting an active community building programme. A series of events & workshops will be run for the wider community of care experienced individuals and supporting organisations with sessions ranging from information & advice event; creative workshops; industry evenings and networking events.
Activities will include 'human library' sessions, discussions on diversity and inclusion, narrative building workshops and much more.
After a thorough application and review process, a specialised core team will be formed to produce the docuseries, with care leavers both in front of and behind the camera. Industry experts will provide technical support and mentoring, while a dedicated pastoral care programme will offer ongoing support throughout the project
Care experienced 18 - 35-YEAR-OLDS make up our core co-design group and will be the recipients of our industry-led skills training for the creation of the forthcoming docuseries.
However, many of our events, workshops and information evenings will be open to care experienced individuals of any age as we believe the solution lies in intergenerational engagement and community building.
We define 'care experienced' as anyone whose adverse childhood experiences led to intervention by social services and/or caused them to live away from home before their 18th birthday.
